Brief description of site and current use
This site is situated on Bottova street, which was in 19th and 20th century the most industrial zone in Bratislava. In 1894 there was the Kablo and later there was Apollo refinery which was in 1944 bombed. The remaining industrial building was used for needs of building industries in the period of the centrally planned economy (1948-1989).
The design factory is the one of the examples of successful revitalization which keeps history of this place. There are three main architects responsible for this reconstruction: Martin Paško, Zuzana Zacharová and Zoran Michalčák.
Area of design factory is often used for expositions and presentation of contemporary architecture and design from the whole world. There are also educational seminars, workshops and lectures meant for fans of design and architecture but also for experts.
